Zhang Wen is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Economic Research, Shandong University in China and an Associated Researcher of the 'Global Correspondent Banking 1870-2000' project. Prior to this she was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in Shenzhen and Research Fellow at the China Accounting Museum in Shanghai.
Zhang Wen holds a PhD in Economics from the Academy of Korean Studies. Her doctoral thesis explored traditional accounting history, account books and the merchants’ role in international business in China and Korea. She is currently involved in several projects related to the collection of historical materials on traditional Chinese industrial and commercial account books, research on the Korean ginseng trade between 1876-1945 and changes in modern banking operations. Her research interests include East Asian economic history between 1840-1949 and the history of accounting transition, commercial network, and trade relations.
